In the past couple of days, I've joined a leadership training, which really helped me discover the unknown part of me, or better to put, the known but not-too-good-to-admit part of me. Hope I can share as many what I've learned from these two days as possible with you, but it'd be even greater if you can have an opportunity to join yourself, trust me, it'd help you to grow a lot for sure!
1. Back to the very beginning: Introduction and Dojo Mentality
In the beginning, by explaining the concept of Dojo (道場) Tim tried to let us know we're in a safe place, so we're able to share whatever we'd like to, there's no rights or wrongs. We need to show our respect to our opponents like people bow down to each other before each game starts in real Dojo.
The other important thing to learn in Dojo is to always keep in beginner's mind: be humble and open minded. even though you already know what it might be, still try to see things from different aspects. For me, i think, beginner's mind not just helps me to see but also listen to what i couldn't have seen/heard on my own.
i still remember... in the Dojo of Kendo, we were always reminded of beginner's mind (初心). so that you would not think as if you know everything, would want to learn more and listen to suggestions from others to help you get better. Only when you keep beginner's mind can you have more and crazier imagination, which helps you to think out of the box.
To prepare our hearts ready for the two-day training, this is definitely a crucial step to begin with.
